There is no charge for this service. We consider this a service to the community and a cost-effective option to paying online.

You can click here for the necessary form. Or you can stop by the Treasurer's Office to fill one out. Please keep in mind once you start this service it will only be stopped with written notification.

Treasurer's Office Duties
The Treasurer’s Office is required to receive and take charge of all funds belonging to the township or which are required by law to be paid into the township treasury and to pay over and account for the funds according to the law or township board decision. The treasurer is the township’s agent for collecting taxes.
The Township Treasurer collects and distributes your property tax bill for the following entities:
- State of Michigan
- Oscoda Area School District
- Intermediate School District
- Iosco County- which includes, medical care facilities, ambulance, Iosco transit, library, the county allocated, and commission on aging.
- Oscoda Township-General fund, police, fire, and special assessments
- Van Ettan Weed control
- Cedar Lk Management
- MSU 4-H Extension Office
- Iosco County Drain Commission- Van Ettan dam maint. & Lakewood shores drain maintenance.

Tax Bills
Tax bills are mailed twice a year.
The summer tax bill is mailed by July 1st and due by September 14th
PLEASE NOTE: After September 14th, 1 % interest is added each month the bill is delinquent. This interest goes to the State of Michigan and the School District. If you are paying after the due date and need to know how much to pay you can click here or call us at 989-739-3211 Ext. 232.
If taxes are still unpaid by February 28th, your taxes will be turned over to the County and considered delinquent.
The winter tax bill is mailed by December 1st and due by February 14th
If your taxes are paid by a Mortgage Company or Financial Institution, a courtesy copy is sent to you for your records. All others should return the bottom portion with payment. Should you require a receipt, please return the entire bill and we will stamp it paid and return it to you.
After February 14th- all unpaid taxes are assessed a 3% penalty for being late.
Dog License
Licenses are available in the Treasurer's office during the Winter tax season from December 1st to February 28th. All dogs are required to have a license at the age of 6 months. You can apply for a license through the mail also. When applying please provide the Owner's name, pet name, mailing address, and current rabies certificate from your veterinarian. Fees vary so please contact us at 989-739-3211 Ext. 232.
Summer Tax Deferment
Summer tax deferment applications are available online now. Please see links from our page. The purpose of the Summer deferment is to extend your summer tax due date to 2/14/2018 without accruing any interest until 2/15/2018. To qualify you must identify your basis for application by choosing either:
1. Principal Residence, and certify that household gross income for the preceding year did not exceed $ 40,000 and qualify for one of the following classifications as provided in the General Property tax Act:
- 62 years of age or older
- Paraplegic, Hemiplegic, or Quadriplegic
- Blind person
- Totally and permanently disabled
2. Agricultural Real Property: classified as such and meeting requirements set forth on the application.
Online and over the counter credit/debit card payments
You can now pay your taxes and water bills online and click here using an electronic check, credit, or debit card. You can use your credit or debit card over the counter in our office or a toll-free number 1-855-894-2402 exclusively for Oscoda Township.
Oscoda Township is working with Point and Pay to provide this service, because this is a convenience service there are fees passed on to the users.
The following fee schedule applies:
Property Tax: 3 % of the tax bill with a minimum of $ 1.50, e-checks flat $ 3.00
Water/Sewer:
$ 0.00 - $ 50.00 = $ 1.50
$ 50.01 - $ 100.00 = $ 3.00
$ 101.00 - $ 200.00 = $ 6.00
$ 201.00 - $ 300.00 = $ 9.00 etc.. $ 3.00 for each additional $ 100.00

Seasonal Launch
Seasonal launch stickers can be purchased at the Treasurer's office, by mail, and also at the launch. When applying please provide the name, address, plate number from the vehicle towing watercraft. The season runs from January to December of each year. Two launches are covered by the Township permit, they include Foote Site Park and Ratliff Park (Van Etten Beach).
Seasonal stickers and daily launch pass must be located on the windshield, passenger side of the vehicle.
